TOLEDO PRIMATIAL CATHEDRAL

In the Main Sacristy, one of the most emblematic areas, the painting collection was reorganised in line with the studies conducted by the conservator-restorer Antonio Sánchez-Barriga, who recovered the designs made by Nicolás Vergara el Mozo in the late sixteenth century in order to return the works to their original locations. The intervention included the restoration of key pieces like The Disrobing of Christ by El Greco, as well as a museographic design that incorporates display cases adapted for the conservation of the works and fitted with advanced LED lighting to enhance the details without compromising their integrity.

In the Chapel of the New Monarchs, a display case more than five metres tall was designed for the monstrance made by Enrique de Arfe to ensure the secure and majestic exhibition of this jewel of Gothic precious metalwork. Composed of minimalist metal frames, the case guarantees the conservation of the exhibits while maintaining an aesthetic integration with the monumental surroundings.

The exhibition itinerary is complemented by an acid-etched sheet metal signage system that guides visitors through the different spaces in the cathedral, such as the Sacristy, the Treasury Courtyard and the Fat Bell Tower.
